Any
person who has been ordinarily residing in Hong Kong for more than 7 years
could apply for the Permanent Resident application in Hong Kong. Holding a
valid permanent identity card constitutes proof that the holder has the right
of abode in the HKSAR. Before a person proceeds to register for the issue of a
permanent identity card, he/she will need to show that he/she is eligible for
registration. For this purpose, a person can apply for verification of
eligibility for a permanent identity card. However, the applicant must be in
Hong Kong when making the application. |
